Word of the Gay: "Polysexuality"

"Polysexuality" refers to people who are emotionally and/or sexually attracted to more than one gender. They do not choose the term bisexual because "bi" connotates only two genders. "Polysexuals" should not be confused with pansexuals because pan means all while poly means many and while there are some similar overlaps, a polysexual may be attracted to some gender variant people but not have the capability or desire to be with some others.

This is probably a stupid comment but. I would be willing to bet that internet pornography might be helping the acceptance of "alternate" sexual appetites.

I think maybe the fact that you can see the gamut of heterosexual fetishes in the same context as homosexual fetishes.

Once you understand that some people might be REALLY into girls in pigtails while other people hate it, it's easier to understand how fickle humans can be with their sex.

Maybe I'll blog about it.

I guess I'd technically be considered "pan" but bi is a bit more familiar and easy to understand when coming out to others.

I was always curious about the poly, pan, bi notion, thanks for the distinction

Interesting! Thats all I can add. Something to think about. I have never cared for the term bi...but maybe that is because I am gender variant.

Like Kid A, I identify as bisexual, but I've considered identifying as pan- or polysexual. Polysexual is the best fit for me, but it just seems like it would be too easily misunderstood and confused with polyamorous, which I'm not. I have a definite attraction to androgynous and genderqueer folk, though, so the term bisexual does seem a bit lacking...
