ABC's Good Morning America Boots Adam Lambert

The ABC networks Good Morning America has canceled a scheduled concert by performer Adam Lambert citing his "controversial" behavior at the American Music Awards this past weekend where he engaged in homoerotic behavior as part of his show.

A spokesperson for ABC said:

"Given his controversial American Music Awards performance, we were concerned about airing a similar concert so early in the morning."

Twitter is up in a storm with hashtags #GMAfail and #ShameOnYouAbc trending.

Contact Good Morning America via their e-contact form and twitter to express outrage.

Seriously, if you don't think Adam Lambert and his people planned this "highly controversial" performance for PR -- you are sadly mistaken. Even though I dislike Elizabeth on the View, she said it right, Adam Lambert won't be remembered for his singing, he will be remembered for the sexual nature of his performance. That's exactly why he wasn't the American Idol - nobody wants to listen to that squealing crap he calls singing. I don't know about you but I don't remember a damn thing about hte song, couldn't tell you what it was about or the name of it and I sure as hell won't be buying it.

All that said, being a gay person, I am saddened to see that a little same sex grinding and groping and kissing is still "too much" for conservative America. People need to get over themselves.

Of course it was planned and he knew it would be edgy and controversial but so what? That's what being an artistic is about.

This is ridiculous! He kissed a boy! He had on more clothes than many if not most of the female artists that perform on GMA! WAKE UP AMERICA!

A simulated blowjob on a prime time television show guaranteed to have millions of teens and pre-teens watching is unacceptable. I don't care if it was gay or straight!

I don't know if GMA discussed the cancellation before doing it, but if they couldn't get guarantees of a less graphic performance, I wouldn't put him on a morning show where millions of teens and younger might watch.

I didn't realize the original awards ceremony wasn't aired until 11:00. I try to avoid reality television and awards shows.

That being said, Adam Lambert crossed the line by performing mock oral sex on network television. If he wanted to kiss his boyfriend, so what?

I'm more of the school that being artistic is about perfecting your art. I'm not sure how this scene fits into that.

I kind of see both points of view on this. I certainly don't think he meant any offense, and it was obviously premeditated and put a lot of peoples noses out of joint, having to see something that they may see as wrong or abnormal.

On the other hand, what a lot of people are complaining about (at least that I have read), was not what he did, but more about the wheres and whens of when he did it.

On the flip side, the Britney/Madonna debacle, although equally as controversial, didnt recieve nearly as much negative press, and that is probably due to the fact they were two women kissing, and not two men. It is all about double standards I guess.

Let's be honest here, this isn't about being artistic. At best, it's about going on stage and saying "gay people can be sexual in musical perfmornaces too," and at worst it is him just pulling the gay card to sell copies of his new album. It's really not even that controversial at this point. Madonna did it years ago at the VMAs. My reaction was and is, "So what?" The most disappointing thing about it is that ABC fell into the trap of believing that this is actually a big deal or seriously controversial in any way. They should have gone ahead as planned because this is old hat at this point. Adam Lambert won't be remembered for the performance, he shouldn't be remembered as any sort of gay icon, and I doubt that he will be remembered at all in a year or two.

How was this any more controversial than brother and sisters, csi, law and order - come on people - get over yourself.

I agree with you Queers United...if something is for you take it, if not then leave it be...

Although its been done by others, his performance did serve as a function. Hopefully it exposes to the millions of heterosexuals who dominate what the media, television, etc. broadcasts that G.L.B.T.Q.I.C. people exist. Heterosexual television/movies/media in general utilizes sex to their advantage on a daily basis and as G.L.B.T.Q.I.C. culture continues to gain assimilation into pop culture, its only logical that now we see two guys kissing. Sex is Sex regardless of the genders engaging in it. If sex on televison bothers people than it should be addressed collectively and leave who kissed who out of it.

Oh, but you see Kris, the SADDEST part of the whole thing is: It's not "same sex grinding and groping and kissing" that is the problem. It is the fact that it is TWO MEN who are doing it. Need proof? Anyone ever heard of Madonna?

Personally, I don't care for his singing and I don't care to see any "grinding and groping and kissing" on prime time TV for my kids to watch or me. That was right up there with Janet Jackson and Justin Timberlake's boob display that was also inappropriate for kids. It is getting to the point I am going to have to DVR everything and edit shows before letting my 12 and 14 year olds watch them. People seem to forget, it is not just adults watching these shows. If they are rated appropriately ahead of time, grind and grope and kiss all you want, but when a show is rated appropriate for kids to watch, it is not an appreciated surprise.

yea i'm all about gay stuff on tv. and i'm all about young celebrities being comfortable with who they are in front of the whole world, and i support them. but why exactly does not wanting his performance to be on a 7:00 morning show mean GMA does not like gay people? the entire show was pelvis thrusting, the song was about dominance in sex, and there was plenty of exposure of womens' bodies too. why would anyone logically want to put that on a morning show? i wouldn't. and i love sex and being gay and the whole deal. just not necessarily with my coffee and charlie gibson. and i think making a big deal about this sort of thing without appreciating the other point of view is exactly what's hurting the gay political cause. do you think GMA would put a slutty song by Britney on at 7:00 a.m.? i don't really think so.

if it was a nam and women kissing would it have been cancelled becaus of thier "hetrosexual behavior"?????

What is it with you people who hate Adam Lambert? Jealous much?

Adam has made it clear that while he is proud of his sexuality, he has no interest in being a "gay icon" or a civil rights leader. He wants to be an entertainer and an artist, and on his own terms. He likes to take risks. This has all been very clear from the beginning.

He is a great talent, and Good Morning America is being cowardly by caving in to the "protect the children from the horrible non-heteros" crowd. His performance on the AMAs was on at nearly 11 o'clock at night. Adam has already appeared on early morning TV many times, with nary a whip or a tonguelock with another man in sight. This is just prudery, bigotry and B.S.

By the way, I heard on CNN that CBS's morning show picked him up to perform on their show instead. I sort of hope Adam swings in half-naked on a chandelier or something just to piss the prudes off, because they really deserve to be pissed off.

This is up there with grabbing and holding on to your penis dduring every performance like the rappers do. We all have a sex life. I enjoy it but I don''t want to watch anyone else do it, be they men, women, or one of each.
